Sigma 85mm f/1.4 (new lens)

I have been thinking about buying a 85 mm lens for a long time now (or 50 mm on my 50D and 45 mm on the m43 bodies). The Canon 85 mm f/1.8 seems like a great value lens and most who owns it are happy with it but I finally decided to buy the Sigma 85 mm f/1.4 a couple of weeks ago. The reason I went for the Sigma in the end was the larger maximum aperture (for really shallow DOF shots) and the fact that it seems sharper than the Canon when stopped down a little. As far as I understand it also has less purple fringing than the Canon even though it also has quite a lot of it when shooting wide open.

I’m really happy with the lens so far! It’s very sharp even when shooting wide open and the focus seems to be pretty accurate (but for larger apertures the DOF gets razor thin and the risk of missed focus because of user error is significant).
